Zapier Integration

Docs index for AI agents: https://mailvalid.io/llms.txt. Every docs page is also available as Markdown: add .md to its URL.

Verify email addresses inside your Zapier workflows. When a new contact, subscriber, lead or customer comes in from any app on Zapier, MailValid checks the address in real time and returns a status you can use in the next step: keep the contact, tag it, or drop it.

Setting Value
Zapier app MailValid on Zapier
Action Verify Email (one input: Email)
Authentication Your MailValid API key
Billing 1 credit per verification. unknown results are free. Each Zap run also counts as a Zapier task on your Zapier plan

Set up the connection

  1. Create a free MailValid account (100 free credits, no credit card).
  2. In your MailValid dashboard, open API Keys and create a key. It starts with mv_live_.
  3. In Zapier, create a Zap, add a step, search for MailValid and choose Verify Email.
  4. When Zapier asks you to connect an account, paste your API key.

Build your first Zap

  1. Trigger: pick the app where new emails arrive, for example Mailchimp (New Subscriber), HubSpot (New Contact), Typeform (New Entry) or Google Sheets (New Row).
  2. Action: MailValid → Verify Email. Map the email field from your trigger into Email.
  3. Optional next step: add a Filter by Zapier or Paths by Zapier step that only continues when Status is valid, or that updates or tags the contact in your CRM based on the status.
  4. Test the step and turn the Zap on.

Ready-made templates

Start from a template and only connect your accounts. These are rolling out on Zapier as they're approved:

  • Verify new Mailchimp subscribers
  • Verify new HubSpot contacts
  • Verify new ActiveCampaign contacts
  • Verify new Stripe customer emails
  • Verify new Kit subscribers
  • Verify new Google Contacts emails
  • Verify Gumroad buyer emails

Find them on the MailValid Zapier page.

What the Verify Email step returns

Field Meaning
status valid, invalid, catch_all, unknown or do_not_mail. See Status Values
status_reason The specific reason, for example mailbox_not_found, accept_all, disposable
confidence_score 0–100
is_disposable true if the address is from a throwaway email provider
is_role_based true for addresses like info@ or support@
is_free_provider true for Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo and similar

What to do with each status:

  • valid: safe to send.
  • invalid: remove it. It will bounce.
  • catch_all: the domain accepts every address, so the mailbox can't be confirmed. Send carefully or segment it.
  • unknown: the mail server didn't answer. Not charged. Try again later.
  • do_not_mail: disposable or role-based. Usually skip it.

Tips

  • Stop bad signups early: put Verify Email right after your form or signup trigger, before the contact reaches your CRM or email tool.
  • Save Zapier tasks: add a filter so only new or changed emails reach the MailValid step.
  • Bulk lists: for thousands of existing contacts, upload a CSV in the dashboard or use the Bulk Verification API instead of running each row through Zapier.

Troubleshooting

Problem Fix
"Authentication failed" when connecting Check the API key was copied in full and is still active under API Keys
Step returns an insufficient credits error Top up credits in the dashboard. Credits never expire
Most results are unknown Some providers block SMTP checks. These results are free. Retry later or treat them as unverified
